Zandvoort (Netherlands)

21 June 2014

Zandvoort as always cooked up for us unpredictible and variable weather. On Friday the weather was beautiful and we worked really hard to be prepared for the oncoming races. On Saturday it started to rain just as the drivers were about to go on track. Some of them stayed on the slick tyre, but they came quickly in the pits for a change. Due to the red flag, the qualifying was shortened for 5 minutes which was very unfortunate because our drivers were getting faster with each lap. But the results didn’t look too bad. Kuba was third and Jens eight. Before the firts race the weather was reversed. The sun had just come out as the drivers were on their way into the starting grid. We decided to run with the slick tyres because the track seemed to dry up quickly. This was the right choice. Jakub was fighting the whole time for the win with two other drivers. One of them crashed with a lapped car on the last lap. Kuba finished second overall and first in his class. Thanks to his and Jens’s good performance, Inter Europol Competition had his first double podium finish this year! The Dune driver positioned himself on the third place. The second race definitely didn’t go as planned. Kuba overslept the start and lost a position in favor to Johann Ledermair with whom he was fighting till the end of the race. A couple of minutes from the end of the race, Jens had a serious accident. He crashed frontally into the wall. The safety car came out immidietaly and led the field until the chequered flag. Jens was taken into an ambulance and had to go to the hospital. He complained about back pain. Everybody waited with anxiety on some news how he’s doing. Luckily it didn’t turn out to be nothing serious. We hope to see him with us on the next event in Brno.
