  • Second LMP3 win of the season for Inter Europol Competition
  • Inter Europol Competition moves into the LMP3 championship lead
  • Challenging race for the #43 LMP2 despite strong early pace
  • Focus now turns to Race 2 on Sunday, 1st February

Inter Europol Competition continued its strong form in the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series with an LMP3 victory in Race 1 at Dubai Autodrome, as the #13 crew claimed their second class win of the season in hot conditions and moved into the lead of the LMP3 championship standings by 9 points.

After qualifying third in class, Alex Bukhantsov made a strong start and quickly moved into contention. A long and consistent opening stint saw the #13 car take the lead around an hour and a half into the race, building a significant gap at the front before safety car periods brought the field back together.

Jimmy Chou took over during the middle phase and remained firmly in the fight at the front, before Henry Cubides Olarte was brought into the car for the final stint. Cubides Olarte immediately began closing in on the #29 Forestier Racing by VPS entry, applying sustained pressure throughout the closing stages. With three laps remaining, the pressure paid off as Cubides Olarte moved into the lead, only to be repassed in traffic on the final lap. Continued pressure into the closing corners forced a mistake from the Forestier Racing car, allowing Cubides Olarte to slip back through and secure a dramatic LMP3 victory.

In LMP2, the #43 Inter Europol Competition entry endured a challenging race despite showing strong early pace. A five-second penalty for a starting infringement affected the opening phase, and further misfortune during safety car periods, combined with a 10-second penalty, dropped the car out of the leading group. Despite efforts from Georgios Kolovos, Bijoy Garg and Nolan Siegel, the #43 entry finished twelfth in class.

Inter Europol Competition now looks ahead to Race 2 of the Asian Le Mans Series weekend, which takes place on Sunday 1st February at Dubai Autodrome, starting at 14:10 local time.

QUOTES

Sascha Fassbender – Team Principal
“It was a tough race for the team in LMP2. We struggled throughout the weekend with the track and the car, and in the end too many things went against us to achieve a strong result. The drivers did a fantastic job, and I’m sorry we couldn’t give them a better car today.

In LMP3, the final lap was incredible — plenty of ups and downs, but I’m very happy for the team that we were able to defend the championship lead and take our second win of the season. We’re now looking forward to Race 2 tomorrow.”

Jimmy Chou
“It was an amazing race. We had good pace throughout, made no mistakes, and that brought us our second win of the season. It also puts us back into the championship lead.”

Henry Cubides Olarte
“A mega drive from my teammates — the team did an amazing job with the strategy calls and the package they brought for this race, which gave us a lot of confidence in the car. Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow”
