The issue the Inter Europol Competition team faced yesterday turned out to be an electrical problem and was solved by the team during the night. Race 2 of the Asian Le Mans series started badly, but after many full course yellows and safety cars, the team?s Ligier JS P320 #13 finished 5th. The team finished seventh in LMP3 in the Asian Le Mans Series season 2022.

At the start, James Dayson got wedged between a number of GT cars, spun and ended at the back of the field after one lap. But he pushed his way back through the field and after one hour handed the car in 9th place (LMP3) to Nico Pino. Pino showed he had the speed and got up to 7th place. After Pino, Dayson got back into the car to finish his driving time, but it was not Dayson?s day. He had another spin but could maintain 7th place. After two hours, Pino got back in the car, and moved up to 6th. Guilherme Oliveira took the last hour of the race. He had to come in for a splash and dash but maintained his fifth place.

James Dayson: ?The result is so frustrating because we were quick again. The pace was good and the car was set up well. It was a good learning experience for the European Le Mans Series and that is my big focus.?

Nico Pino: ?I did two shorter, very intense stints with many full course yellows and plenty of safety car periods, which did not make it feel very fluid. It was the first race in the Asian Le Mans Series with no car problems. The championship is a really good preparation for the rest of the year and I enjoyed it.?

Guilherme Oliveira: ?I liked the racing today, and I was happy with the car. ?We did not get the result we wanted but we know had the pace to be up there on the podium. It was intense ?but good to do four races in two weeks.?

Sascha Fassbender (team manager): ?Today we had the bad luck of having two spins in the first half of the race. And we were a little unlucky with where we were during some of the safety cars and full course yellows. We lost some time here. All in all it was good for the team to be here to prepare for the a full season we have ahead of us. James and Nico will join us in the ELMS and they got a lot of time in the car and got to know the team. I hope we have had all the bad luck for the rest of the season.?
