Three cars in the VdeV: busy weekend ahead for the team

26 April 2017

Portimao (Portugal) is the second race on the calendar of the VdeV championship and the Inter Europol Competition team is already on its way. The team will not only brings two LMP3s but also a Formula Renault 2.0. Busy weekend ahead for the team with two crews for three cars in two classes and seven drivers.

The driver in the FR2.0 is the 74 year (!) old Robert Siska (USA). He has been with the team for many years and last weekend raced at the Hungaroring in the ESET V4 championship. He started race 1 from 7th and in race 2 from 14th place. He finished 12th in both races. The grid of the Formula class in the VdeV will consist of 20 Formula Renault 2.0 cars from various years.

For the six hour LMP3 race this weekend the #22 Ligier JS P3 of Kuba Smiechowski and Hendrik Still will have Peter Elkmann (GER) as third driver. Alex M?ller (GER) will join #33 regulars Paul Scheuschner and Xavier Michel. Both new to the team German drivers combine years of experience (see attached CVs).

Michael Keese (Technical director): ?In the first race of the VdeV in Barcelona in March, both LMP3s did not finish where we thought they should have been as both had the same technical issues because of faulty new parts. However before the ELMS race at Silverstone (15th of April) all technical issues were resolved and we finished, in a very close race, in 6th place. Both the ELMS and the VdeV are much more competitive then last year, which is good. But this also means that the pressure is now on to show why we won the VdeV LMP3 class last year.?
