Spa-Francorchamps (Test)

29 August 2014

Right after the NEC race we returned to the legendary track at Spa, for a testday in the GP2 Formula. The target for this test was easy: to compare different kinds of slick tyres. Little did we know, that the weather had planned something else. Just after the beginning of the first session it started to rain. Jakub Śmiechowski did a lot of laps on the wet track which is always an important experience. He showed good and steady pace. But we also had a secret reason for returning to Belgium. As a reward for his achievements and good progress this year, we decided to hand over the GP2 in the hands of David Richert. Despite no previous contact with this car he showed himself from a very good side. Here is what our drivers had to say at the end of the day:
Jakub: “I think that it was a very fruitfull test. The weather messed a bit with our plans, but the most important thing is that I spend some quality time out on the track. I feel well prepared for the race in Brno.”
David: “Only a handful of people get to drive this car, so I feel incredibly privileged for getting this chance. I need to say a big thank you for everyone at Inter Europol Competition for allowing me to enjoy this experience. This day gives me the motivation to work even harder in hopes that one day I will be able to compete in this kind of cars on a regular basis.”
