Going for a 7th podium finish in a row

8 May 2019

The Inter Europol Competition team is going for their seventh podium in a row in the Monza European Le Mans Series race this weekend. The first of the six podium finishes was in the last ELMS race of 2018 at Portimao, where the #13 LMP3 car with Kuba Smiechowski and Martin Hippe finished first. The next four podium places were in the Asian Le Mans Series with the same two drivers, two first places in China and Malaysia and two second places in Japan and in Thailand. The last podium was a third place for the #13 LMP3 with Hippe and Nigel Moore in the last race of the ELMS at Le Castellet.

Last year, here at Monza, the LMP3 #13 qualified 15thbut finished 4th. Obviously, for this race, Hippe and Moore are looking for the 7thpodium finish in a row.

The drivers in the #34 LMP2 (Kuba Smiechowski / Léo Roussel / Dani Clos) are on a steep learning curve and are looking to improve a lot from the last race at Le Castellet. There the team had quite some issues with the tyres.

In the #14 LMP3 Paul Scheuschner is now joined by Sam Dejonghe for the rest of the season and both are going to push hard to finish better than the 14thplace at Le Castellet in the first ELMS race.

Kuba Smiechowski:“I have been testing a lot and feel that I am really improving in the LMP2. In the three years I raced in the LMP3 I really got to know the car well and now I need to find my way in the LMP2. But I like the car ánd the challenge of getting better.”
