From the ELMS straight to the VdeV

31 August 2017

No rest for the Inter Europol Competition team after its success (second place in LMP3 class) in the European Le Mans Series race at Paul Ricard last Sunday. The team went straight back on the road for the next race on their calendar; Jarama with the VdeV (1 – 2 September).

Kuba Smiechowski and Hendrik Still will, as usual, drive the #22 LMP3. Paul Scheuschner, the team’s regular driver in the #33 LMP3 will have two teammates this weekend. One is Peter Elkmann (GER), the other is Johann Ledermair (AUT). Elkmann has raced with the team before in the Portimao six-hours race but in the #22 car (they won the race). Ledermair knows the team, but is new to the LMP3. His career started in karts in 1999 and continued in the FR2.0 NEC (2nd in 2010), Porsche Carrera Cup and then raced with a FR3.5 and a GP2 car in the Boss GP. He won this championship in 2012 in the Masters class and in 2015 in the Formula class.

Smiechowski is in second place in the VdeV championship, Still third, Scheuschner seventh and Elkmann ninth. The drivers from Graff Racing are leading the championship by 13.5 points.

Johann Ledermair: “I am looking forward to this weekend. It will be a steep learning curve; a new car and a new circuit. But I will give it my best and enjoy the time with the team and on track.”

Paul Scheuschner: “Jarama is a new track for me and from what I heard and saw so far, it`s a challenging track. The temperatures will be quite high this weekend as well. I’m happy to be back in the car after the two months break in the VdeV calendar. It`s great that this weekend the schedule with the free practice, qualifying and the race is on two instead of three days, which makes it even harder and more exciting for me.”

14.40 – 16.40 Free practice 2

Saturday 2 September
