Finishing the season on a high

24 October 2021

The Inter Europol Competition finished the 2021 European Le Mans Series on a high. The Ligier LMP3 #13, driven by Martin Hippe, Ugo de Wilde and Adam Eteki, finished in second place. The overall result is fourth in the championship.

Mateusz Kaprzyk, Nico Pino, Patryk Krupinski did a very good job in #14 Ligier LMP3. Kaprzyk started from 13th but was in third place when he handed the wheel to Krupinski. Unfortunately, Krupinski had contact with another car and was given a drive-through penalty. However, he and Nico Pino drove a further faultless race but, in the end, had to be happy with 8th place. The LMP3 #14 finished sixth in the championship.

?

Sascha Fassbender (team manager): ?For the last race of the 2021 ELMS season, after our performance throughout the weekend, we hoped to be able to finish first. But we are also happy with the second place, especially losing to the DKR team is nothing to be ashamed of. They had an unbelievable speed all throughout the season and were unbeatable. As always after the weekend, we are looking to the future. We will be back next year in the championship and will chase that elusive first place.?

?

Martin Hippe: ?Second place in Portimao is a good result. For sure, you are always looking for the win. A big thank you for the season to all the drivers, mechanics, and all the others in the team. We have been growing together over the year, and in the end, we have shown where our potential is. There is still room to improve but, if you come second to the championship winner, that is something I can live with.?

Ugo de Wilde: ?It was a good race. It was a good stint. And I am happy finishing as the first Ligier. It was not the result we wanted this weekend but at least we were on the same pace as the leader.?

Adam Epeki: ?It was my first time with the team, and what a good team it is. I was happy with the set-up of the car. For me, it was the best car this weekend. With Ugo and Martin, we did not have to compromise on the set-up of the car. A bit aggressive, but that is what we wanted. So yes, happy to be on the podium and hopefully more of this next year.?

Nico Pino: ?It was a tough race. We had contact with another car and had to take a drive-through penalty. Overall, it was a bit tricky, but I managed to overtake some cars, even if I had some damage to the spoilers. But it was a consistent stint which makes it easier to look forward to the future.?

Mateusz Kaprzyk: ?This track suits me and, in combination with the perfect car, I felt comfortable and happy driving it. It made me go very fast.?

Patryk Krupinski: ?I had a tough time adjusting to the car in the beginning. The contact I had with another car in my stint and the drive-through did not make me happy. But I had a great weekend and enjoyed it immensely.?
