Silverstone ELMS (Great Britain)
18 April 2016
This weekend we participated in the first round of the European Le Mans Series at Silverstone. Our drivers for this event were Jakub Śmiechowski and Jens Petersen. The weather was typically English. Low temperatures and variable conditions made it very difficult to decide what tactic to choose for the race. Kuba was our driver for the qualifying. Few hours before it was snowing so the track was very slippery but with every minute it was getting faster. Sadly, Kuba’s last lap was compromised because of traffic and we had to start from the 14-th position. We chose an aggressive tactic. Kuba started the race. Systematically he gained positions. After the two hour mark when he handed the steering wheel over to Jens we were on the third position. Jens lapped very consistently. Unfortunately not long after the change, began troubles with the suspension. The car became very hard to drive. Despite that 15 minutes before the end of the race we were on a very safe 6-th position with over 40 seconds in front of the next team. But motorsport is very unpredictable. 4 minutes before the end we had to retire from the race. The suspension gave up definitely… But we learned a lot this weekend and we look very positive into the future for the next ELMS round in Imola!
