Join us for some ideal racing in the Middle East
17 August 2017
The 7th Gulf 12-hours race (13 – 16 December 2017) and the by Creventic organised two six-hour races in Dubai (4 – 7 January 2018) are an ideal opportunity to prepare for the 2018 season in an LMP3 and in particular the LMP3 of the Inter Europol Competition team.
In addition, these two prototype events offer excellent training and preparation for the 24-hours of Dubai (11 – 13 January 2018).
The two events with combined four races and a lot of track time, are a perfect way to get to know the Ligier JS P3 LMP3 and the team. The Inter Europol Competition team is active and very successful in the European Le Mans Series (so far 7th), the VdeV Championship (so far 2nd) and the Dutch GT & Prototype Challenge (so far 1st).
The Gulf 12-hours race has been organised by the Driving Force Events company since 2012. This long-distance race will be held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The racing format consists of 2 six-hour races with a 2-hour (repair) break, raced on a single day.
While the first six-hour race starts at 9 am, the second part of the race starts at dusk, at 6pm. This part of the event, the night race, will show the action on the brightly lit Formula One circuit. The track offers a wide range of challenges through its varied layout.
Opened in 2009, the 5.554km Yas Marina Circuit, with 21 corners and spectacular architecture, has been an integral part of the Formula 1 calendar for years. The relatively mild climate in December, with daytime temperatures of 25-28°C, allows the race to run under ideal conditions.
The circuit in Dubai, opened in 2004, is 5.39 km long and hosts the two six-hour races, organised by Creventic on two consecutive days, Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of January. Both races are preceded by a free practice and a qualifying session. An optional three-hour private test is organised on Friday. Again, plenty of driving time for the drivers who will be sharing the car.
