Back to back race weekends for Inter Europol Competition team
19 July 2017
Barely back from Zolder where the Inter Europol Competition team participated in the GT&Prototype Challenge and won both one-hour races, or the team is on its way to the Red Bull Ring for the third round of the European Le Mans Series.
Both drivers in the ELMS, Kuba Smiechoswki and Martin Hippe, are in sixth place in the drivers championship after two six place finishes at Silverstone and Monza. In the team championship the team is equally in sixth place. Meantime in the GT&Prototype Challenge the Inter Europol Competition team is in first place after three races and in second place in the VdeV after four races.
Martin Hippe: “After working last weekend as the engineer in the GT&P Challenge and winning both races, I am really happy to be back behind the wheel this weekend. Eventhough the first two races in the ELMS went quite well we did have some small problems. But as a team we worked a lot over the last couple of weeks to improve the car, so I am quitely confident that we can achieve our target to finish on the podium this year. I am looking forward to this beautiful track and the great landscape around it. The last time I raced at this great track was in 2003 as a Formula BMW rookie.”
Kuba Smiechowski: “I hope that my result will be better than last year, when a crash with a backmarker GT car put me out of the race within one hour of the start. I think this track really suits me and am confident that we will get a good result this weekend”.
