A changed driver lineup for Monza

7 July 2021

The Inter Europol Competition team is back in Monza for the fourth round of the European Le Mans Series with two new drivers in the Ligier LMP3 #14 and a driver change from the #14 to the #13 sister car.

In Monza, Martin Hippe and Ugo de Wilde are joined by Mattia Pasini. Pasini originally planned to do the first race in Barcelona, but throughout the season, he became the quick bronze driver in the #14.

But for this weekend, Erwin Creed (FRA) joined the Ligier LMP3 #14 as a bronze driver. Therefore, Pasini moved the #13 sister car.  Mateusz Kprzyk (POL) other teammate in Monza is the young German driver, Marius Zug. While Creed has a long experience in endurance racing, for Zug it will be the first time in a Ligier LMP3.

Marius Zug: “Last weekend I was racing in Mugello in a BMW M6 and this weekend I am in Monza, racing an LMP3. That is life in the fast lane for me. Which of course, thanks to the Inter Europol Competition team, is what I most want to do. I am looking forward to working with the team and seeing what I can do in the Ligier. But as always, I will give it my all.”

Erwin Creed: “Even though this is not my favorite track, that is Magny Cours, I am happy to be back at Monza. Like the last time when I was here, in 2017, I won the ELMS race. So, I hope we can do something good again this weekend, especially as I have two very young and quick teammates.”

Mattia Pasini: “It is nice to be in the #13 and to have a strong and quick lineup for my home race. I want to continue my improvements and, of course, this weekend it is time to make the first podium finish. That is my goal, to be on the podium on Sunday and preferably on the highest step.”

Race starts on Sunday 11 July at 11 am. Live at www.europeanlemansseries.com
