Back on track
28 June 2018
After a bit of a holiday in the VdeV Championship (due to the 24 hours of Le Mans) the Inter Europol Competition is back on track. The three regular drivers in the two LMP3 are in first and second place in the VdeV Championship. Kuba Smiechowski and Pontus Fredricsson lead with 24 points over Paul Scheuschner. Scheuschner has five points more than the number three (Cool racing). In the single seater category Edward Jonasson is in second place. 29 points behind Nicolas Varrone but only one point in front of the number three (Grégory Segers).
This weekend (30 June – 1 July) the VdeV championship is at Dijon (France). The #22, as always, is driven by Kuba Smiechowski and Pontus Fredricsson. The #33 LMP3 is driven by Paul Scheuschner and fellow German Luca Ludwig. It will be Ludwig’s first race in an LMP3, but he has a long and successful history of racing in different cars and championships. Jonasson will start in the #8 Formula Renault.
Edward Jonasson(#8 Formula Renault): “I have done a lot of preparations for this weekend including a two day simulator training. On the simulator the track looks and feels super fun with a lot of challenging and fast corners. Dijon has a lot of similarities to a track in Sweden called Falkenberg and I know that one quite well. I am well prepared and am really looking forward to the races this weekend.”
Pontus Fredricsson(#22 LMP3): “I have worked hard at the simulator for two days and that has been good. Since I have never been on the track before it should help me get into a rhythm sooner rather than later. It has been very instructive to learn the lay-out and some different track line choices. We have practiced many times the qualifiying session and race distance (two hours). I’m feeling very good and looking forward to this weekend! Kuba and I will continue to defend our first place in the championship..”
