Monza: part 2
14 July 2021
Last weekend the Inter Europol Competition team raced in the European Le Mans Series in Monza with their Ligier LMP3s and had their second podium finish of the season. This coming weekend it is Monza part 2. The team is ready to race in the third race of the World Endurance Championship with their Oreca LMP2. At the moment in fourth place in the WEC, Alex Brundle, Kuba Smiechowski and Renger van der Zande are obviously very motivated to do better.
Alex Brundle: “I am looking forward to making another step in Monza. The team has been working hard and testing since Portimao, and I fully expect another step up in performance, which will hopefully reflect our result. Monza is a circuit I really enjoy and know well, so I’m looking forward to making swift progress in the practice sessions.”
Kuba Smiechowski: “I am happy to drive in Monza, as it is a track I like. After finishing fifth in the first two races, I hope to get our best result this season on Sunday. We had the test in Aragon, which was very promising, and we worked really hard to get to the next level.”
Renger van der Zande: “Monza is indeed the temple of speed and with the low downforce this season, it fits very well. It is not an easy track, but you still can make a lot of difference with a good car and good drivers. We will see how we go against the competition in terms of speed. It is the final prep for the big one, Le Mans. Let’s see how we go and looking forward to the race in Italy.”
