Finally….
16 July 2020
Finally…. the week has arrived that the Inter Europol Competition team goes back on track for the first race of the European Le Mans Series. Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet will host this weekend (18-19 July) the first of the five rounds of the ELMS 2020 season.
Last year at Le Castellet, it was the first race for the team with the Ligier LMP2. Since then the confidence has grown. This year the team runs the only Ligier in the LPM2 field. The #34 LMP2 with drivers Kuba Smiechowski, Rene Binder and Matevos Isaakyan, will therefor be the odd one out. But this will not stop the team and drivers to go for it.
Kuba Smiechowski: “I am so ready to get into the car and race. And yes, being the only Ligier in the field will be interesting and a challenge, but we are up to it. The two test days have been really good for us and we are ready to push.”
In the brand new Ligier JS P320, the successful driver pairing of last year, Nigel Moore and Martin Hippe, will try to finally clinch the title, after having been vice champions two years running. Last year at Le Castellet they finished third.
Nigel Moore: “Obviously the goal is to go one better than the last two years. It will be tough as the LMP3 class has some very quick driver pairings, but it will be good fun at the same time.”
