The driver line-up of the Inter Europol Competition team’s #14 LMP3 for the second race weekend (11-12 January) of the Asian Le Mans Series race at The Bend in Australia, is completed. Australian drivers Peter Paddon and Garth Walden will share the car with American driver Austin McCusker. McCusker got on a plane at the last last minute to complete the line-up.

McCusker is also the new team mate for Nigel Moore and Martin Hippe in the #13 LMP3 for the European Le Mans Series 2020.

Paddon and Walden will also participate in the test of the Australien Production & Prototype GT Challenge and race in a Radical.

Peter Paddon: “I’ve raced radicals for a while and seen a lot of the guys I’ve raced with progress to driving LMP3, like Neale Muston, John Corbett and Mitch Neilson. They’ve all said great things about the cars and the racing. This seems like the perfect opportunity for me to drive a LMP3 at home on a track I have some experience on, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

Like in China, three Australians, John Corbett, Mitch Neilson and Nathan Kumar are back in the #33 LMP2. It is only their second race in an LMP2, but their goal is still another top 5 finish.

The more experienced of the two LMP2 crews, Kuba Smiechowski, James Winslow and Mathias Beche are back in the #34 LMP2 and looking for a top three finish.

Kuba Smiechowski: “It is my first time in Australia. I did the track walk, and the track seems to be very difficult. I think the faster I adept to it the better it will be. And with no run-offs you just cannot make any mistakes.”

The #13 LMP3 with Nigel Moore and Martin Hippe is leading the LMP3 championship and are going to push for another win.

Nigel Moore: “We are ready to race. We finished last year on a high and are now looking to start the year on another high. The track is new to us, but then it is new to most all of us. It will be exciting to get to know the track. Overtaking is not going to be easy but that never stopped me from doing it. Martin and I know what we need to do. Now all we need to do is go and do it.”
