(English) FAULTLESS RUN AT LE MANS 24 HOURS

12 czerwca 2022

Przepraszamy, ten wpis jest dostępny tylko w języku English.

For the first time in the history of the Inter Europol Competition team, two LMP2 were entered into the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. This is what the drivers said after finishing 13th and 14th in the 90thedition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

#34 Esteban Gutierrez

?The full Le Mans experience is very special, and it?s a full ten days of activities on and off the track. I?ve really enjoyed sharing the experience with Inter Europol Competition. It?s been a great experience, and it?s the longest race I have ever done. I?ve enjoyed the challenge, and it?s been positive on track, even if it is not the result that we wanted. Race pace and average lap times in the stint have been good, and for me personally, I have been pushing and trying to maximise every stint and make the most of any opportunities.?

#34 Alex Brundle

?It?s been solid, but we?ve lacked a little in many areas. We?ve actually run a very good race and kept the car out of trouble for a solid run, but the speed has just not been there. The team and the drivers have shaken the tree all week with the suppliers to make sure we get the things we need, the parts we need, to try to improve our setup, but basically, it?s been a frustrating week. That said, we?ve finished another 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it?s tough to finish these races, so congratulations to the team.?

#43 Fabio Scherer

?Le Mans is Le Mans, and it?s just magic, but as we found out this weekend, it can also be a pain in the butt. We all drove well, with no mistakes, while the team did a fantastic job and we looked set for a very special podium. Then we had a small engine problem, and that opportunity was lost. I think we did the best we possibly could and I?m happy with my own performance in the car, the team performance, but it wasn?t the result we expected.?

#34 Kuba Smiechowski

?It?s been a tough and challenging race week in general. We had some issues with the car in between the warmup session and the race, so we had to change both the gearbox and engine; the guys did an incredible job completing that in one-and-a-half hours, an amazing effort. The result is not what we hoped for, but we did get through the race without any major mechanical issues, and the cars were well prepared. We spend some time analysing the event, looking for gaps in our performance to come back stronger at Monza.?

#43 David Heinemeier Hanson

?There are many good things to take away; we finished with both the cars. They showed they had pace, maybe not the reliability or the outright pace. Still, we were up there. I now have done nine 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this is one of the better ones. It would have been nice to see where we would have been without the extra minutes in the pits. It is wonderful to see all the fans, and no rain during the race. I had some good battles and some wonderful stints, and I really enjoyed Le Mans. It?s awesome.?

?#43 Pietro Fittipaldi

?Le Mans has been an incredible experience, one where you need plenty of perseverance as now – at the end of all this – I?m feeling destroyed. It was hard to get much sleep at night and then eight-and-a-half hours in the car, the most I have ever run, for my first 24-hour race.?

?The team and all of the drivers executed really well, with a strong pace to get the car up to P7, and we were there, nice and steady. I think conservatively, we had a shot at sixth or seventh and, if a bit lucky, top five. We brought the car home; nobody made any mistakes, so we can be proud of that.?

Sascha Fassbender (Team Manager)

?It was our first time with two LMP2s, and this was obviously a big challenge for the team. We had an added complication in that the second car we expected to race was not delivered on time and we relied on an outside supplier.

?We prepared both cars to a very high standard, and we finished the race with no technical issues within our control, which was unfortunate, as it cost us a much better result. The team worked so hard, way above and beyond what we could reasonably expect, and so my sincere thanks to them all.?
