• #43 Oreca finishes second in LMP2, just five seconds short of victory after 24 hours of racing
• Sister #343 completes the podium in third, a further 25 seconds behind
Inter Europol Competition celebrated a landmark result at the Rolex 24 in Daytona, delivering a huge team effort to secure a superb double podium finish in the LMP2 class in its first-ever two-car entry at the iconic 24-hour endurance race.
After 24 hours of relentless racing, the #43 Oreca finished second in LMP2, just five seconds short of victory, with the sister #343 entry completing the podium in third, a further 25 seconds behind, underlining the competitiveness of the team across the full distance.
The race was heavily influenced by long safety car periods, with thick fog slowing running through the middle portion of the race. As conditions improved, the race restarted for a flat-out sprint to the chequered flag. Inter Europol Competition delivered a faultless performance, combining strong pace with perfectly executed pit stops and strategy to keep both cars firmly in podium contention to the finish.
The #43 Oreca started the race from LMP2 pole position and delivered a strong performance throughout. Jeremy Clarke opened the race before the car rotated through stints from Bijoy Garg, Tom Dillmann and António Félix da Costa. As the race entered its final phase, the team committed to a split strategy in a last push for victory, a bold call that briefly put the #43 in a position to challenge for the win. In the end, the strategy fell just short, with Tom Dillmann bringing the car home in second place after a perfectly executed final stint.
The #343 Oreca also produced an outstanding drive across the 24 hours. Georgios Kolovos made an excellent start, gaining positions early and setting the tone with a strong opening stint. The car continued to fight at the front through stints from Jakub Śmiechowski and Nolan Siegel, briefly running at the head of the LMP2 field in the closing hours. From halfway through the race, the #343 faced an additional challenge with a starter motor issue, requiring the car to be push-started at every pit stop. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the crew, the car remained in the race and fully competitive, with Nick Cassidy completing the final stint and securing third place at the finish.
Securing a double LMP2 podium at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in its first year running a two-car programme marks a major milestone for Inter Europol Competition and highlights the determination of the entire team across one of endurance racing’s toughest events.
