The last round of the VdeV championship this weekend at Estoril, is also the last race weekend for the Inter Europol Competition team in 2017. The team not only runs two LMP3s in the six hour race but also has two Formula Renault 2.0 racing in the three 20-minute single seater races. Kuba Smiechowski is second in the championship and will fight for the win this weekend to extend the 2016 title. <\/p>\n
This weekend the LMP3 race takes six hours and three drivers will be sharing the car. In the #22 are Kuba Smiechowski, Hendrik Still (3rd in the championship) and new to the team from Switzerland, Nikolaj Rogivue. The #33 will be driven by regular Paul Scheuschner (6th in the championship), sometime regular Philippe Bourgois and endurance rookie Pontus Fredriksson. He raced with the team in the LMP3 at Spa in one of the GT&Prototype race weekend, but this will be his first endurance race.<\/p>\n
The two Formula Renault 2.0 single seaters will be driven by Richard Wagner from Germany and Robert Siska from the USA. Siska will turn 75 this year but never mind his age, he is still as competitive as when he was a professional tennis player. Wagner comes from the F4.<\/p>\n
Michael Keese (Technical Director): \u201cAll our four cars alternatively on track will ask a lot of dedication of all the people in the team, specially after such a busy year. It is going to be hard work for all of us. We have two groups of mechanics, one for the FR2.0 and one for the LMP3 and four engineers, one for each car. Next year we are looking to have these two very different cars in all of the VdeV races and so far it looks promising. But first things first, this is a very important weekend for us as we have to defend our 2016 title.\u201d<\/p>\n
