The #14 LMP3 is the best of the rest at the Slowakiaring

25 May 2019

An eventful stint, a solid stint and flatspotted stint, brought the Inter Europol Competition team LMP3 #14 in the Ultimate Cup Series race weekend at the Slowakiaring to the finish in fourth place.

Corbett’s stint was the most eventful. With two full course yellows, a spin and getting tapped twice, Corbett was in 9thplace after two hours. The #20 got a drive through penalty for the incident.

Scheuchner got in during the third full course yellow and fell back to 12th. After two hours in the car, Scheuschner was in 7thplace. He did a solid stint with no mistakes. During another FCY he handed the car over to Edward Jonasson.

Jonasson did a good job and moved up to 4thplace. With five minutes left on the clock, Jonasson had to come in as he had flatspotted his front left tyre (twice) and not much was left of it. With a quick tyre change done by the team not a position was lost.

The team is now third in the championship.

John Corbett:“It was a very interesting stint to say the least, as there was a lot of contact for only 15 cars on a 6km track. I got hit twice and once was even under full course yellow. But it was a good stint and I enjoyed it.”

Paul Scheuschner: “In the first stint we were a bit unlucky because of the spin and the contact with two other cars. It cost us some time. I got in the car under full course yellow so that was good. This very challenging track was new to me, and really, the time I had in free practice was just not enough to get comfortable on the track. However, the other drivers gave me some really good advice and I could drive a solid stint. I was happy with the car as the team did a good job with the set-up. Even on a slippery track.”

Edward Jonasson:“It was the first time for me at the Slowakiaring and I found it a really tricky track. I needed all my time in the car to get used to it. You need to be very precise in your driving. In my two-hour stint, I unfortunately flatspotted my tyres. I am on a steep learning curve in endurance racing and have to learn the hard way how to preserve my tyres. But the team did a good job and we did not lose any positions.”
