Inter Europol Competition will race with the Ligier JS P228 from 2028, beginning an exciting new chapter in the team’s LMP2 programme and strengthening its long-standing relationship with Ligier Automotive.

The Polish team will be among the first to race the new-generation LMP2 prototype, which is being developed by Ligier Automotive following its selection by the ACO and FIA as one of two chassis manufacturers for the next generation of LMP2 regulations, covering the 2028 to 2032 seasons.

The Ligier JS P228 is set to make its competitive debut in the European Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2028. The car will subsequently enter the Asian Le Mans Series for the 2028/29 season and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2029.

For Inter Europol Competition, the decision marks a return to Ligier machinery at LMP2 level. The team’s relationship with Ligier in the category dates back to 2019, when Inter Europol Competition competed with the Ligier JS P217.

The relationship continued into 2020, with the team racing the Ligier JS P217 in the European Le Mans Series and taking the prototype to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Beyond LMP2, Ligier machinery has played an important role throughout the development of Inter Europol Competition in prototype racing, with the relationship extending across a number of LMP3 programmes and continuing today.

Since its previous Ligier LMP2 programme, Inter Europol Competition has developed into one of the leading teams in international LMP2 competition.

The team claimed its breakthrough LMP2 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 before returning to the top step in 2025. In 2026, Inter Europol Competition achieved a historic one-two finish in LMP2, securing its third Le Mans class victory in four years.

Success has extended across international competition, with Inter Europol Competition securing the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 title in 2024, alongside strong campaigns in the European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series.

The move to the Ligier JS P228 represents the next stage of that journey, with Inter Europol Competition looking to bring its experience and recent success into a completely new generation of LMP2 competition.

Inter Europol Competition will work closely with Ligier Automotive in preparation for the introduction of the new regulations, ahead of the Ligier JS P228’s first competitive season in 2028.
