When I was 10 I got involved with the kartsport and my first race followed at age 13. First at club level and from 1997 on a national level and from 2000 on an international level.
In 2000 and 2001 I won the Dutch national Kart Championship (class: ICC). In 2001 I became the CIK / FIA Vice European Championship ICC while in 2002 I came in second in the Italian Open Masters Championship ICC. In 2003 I won the German Jörg van Ommen ICC and became 8th at the CIK Wordcup Super-ICC.
Then in 2004, I switched during the season to F3. In 2005 I won the Recaro F3 Cup in Germany. In 2006, I was the last driver with Opel engine in the F3 Euro Series. All other drivers had a Mercedes engines and despite me having another engine I won a race at Brands Hatch, came in 3rd at the Norisring and 4th at the Nürburgring. Unfortunately, I did not have the budget to finish the season.
Without sufficient budget I was forced to dedicate myself again to the kartsport. This time not the short track but the longdistance kart racing; in the Superkart 250! Nothing is so fast and so affordable.
In 2008, I became the CIK / FIA Superkart European Champion. In that year I also started as VW works test driver and did this for three years till the test team and the factory participation in the F3 ended and VW devoted itself entirely to the WRC.
Since then, I am superkart factory driver for the engine manufacturer VM-Motor. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 I became the French FFSA champion. Also in 2015 and 2016 I finished second in the CIK / FIA European Championship.
This year after eight years I changed from MS-Kart to Anderson and after the first race am leading the championship.
Since 2015 a friend, my father and I have been trying to establish a new vehicle concept to establish our own racing series in the near future. The goal was to build a small, lightweight and technically simple prototype race car that drives fast and is affordable in terms of purchase and maintenance. The result is our “Performer” and about the project is at: www. Performer-by-elkmann.de.
